* Each programme is designed to help children of all ages reach developmental targets for their age.*
The Main Focus
The primary focus of MoVee Performance is on the gross motor development of children and the understanding of the movement and motor planning required to move or do a task. Movement awareness, running patterns, and coordination are very important. They allow a child to move, and perform tasks better, enhancing sports performance and preventing injuries.
Equipping a child with an understanding of control, balance, and stability allows them to be able to move with enough power, speed, and strength to perform their physical tasks optimally!
What is Motor Planning?
Motor planning is a skill that allows one to remember and perform the steps required to make movements happen. These skills assist us in virtually every task we do down to the simplest of tasks like washing our hands or brushing our hair. These movements are saved in the “movement files” stored in our brains and used in the execution of the same movements in the future. It is a skill that improves through time and practice.
Motor planning consists of both gross motor development and fine motor development, whereas gross motor development forms the basis for the development of fine motor skills. These skills improve over time and with practice.
Benefits of Gross Motor Development
Gross motor development refers to the use of large muscles in the arms, legs, and torso. It helps the child to relate to body awareness, movement awareness, space awareness, reaction speed, balance, and strength. Gross motor development is an important part of early childhood development.
Gross Motor Coordination is Categorised Into Sub-Groups:
Gross Locomotor Skills: crawling, walking, jumping, running, climbing, and hopping.
Object Control (Manipulation) Skills: rolling, kicking, lifting, throwing, or catching.
Stationary Skills: movement in place, such as balancing, swinging, pulling, pushing, turning, and twisting.
